The checker runs 56 checks in 7 categories. 6 of the checks are tracked: they are reported but not scored. The score runs from 0 to 100 and maps to a grade from A to F.
Extra checks can be added for some site types, such as ecommerce and local business. Training crawlers like GPTBot and ClaudeBot are reported but not scored. A check that depends on an API you do not offer is marked not applicable instead of failing.
An enterprise AI readiness assessment rates an organization for adopting AI: its data, infrastructure, skills, governance and strategy. This checker rates one public website instead. It tests whether AI agents, crawlers and assistants can reach, read, understand and act on that site. It is automated, free, takes a URL and needs no sign-up. It does not assess your company's internal AI maturity.
It is how well AI agents, crawlers and assistants can reach, read, understand and act on your public website. It covers access rules, structured data, content, discovery files, agent protocols and authentication.
Each category is scored from its checks. The overall score is a weighted sum of the category scores, from 0 to 100. Grades: A is 75 or more, B 60 or more, C 45 or more, D 30 or more, and F below 30. See the methodology for every check and weight.
No. Training crawlers like GPTBot and ClaudeBot are reported but not scored. Blocking user-initiated agents such as ChatGPT-User, or AI search fetchers such as OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot, does lower the score.
The audit is free. You enter a URL and get a report. You do not need to sign up.
The checker names the reason instead of scoring an error page. The reason can be an anti-bot block, an unreachable site, a login requirement, rate limiting or a timeout. No score is computed from an anti-bot challenge page.
It helps coding agents and AI tools that fetch it, and the checker looks for it. Google says its AI features need no special AI files, so do not expect llms.txt to change your Google visibility. Use the llms.txt validator to check the file.
